The Cellular Jail - a National Memorial....

Cellular Jail at night

"The Cellular Jail, also known as Kālā Pānī (derived from Sanskrit words 'Kal' which means Time or Death and 'Pani' which means Water), was a colonial prison in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India..." (Source: Wikipedia).

The jail was completed in the year 1906. It originally had seven wings similar to the spokes of a bicycle.

The name got 'cellular' because of its total 693 numbers of separate cells made up for solitary confinement.
